Everett marries in September 1965 to Ilene Vander Ley, who also has Dutch, Frisian ancestry. They grew up together near New Holland in Douglas County in the southeast of South Dakota, were next door neighbors and went to same school (the Christian Dakota School) and church. When Everett returned from military service in Vietnam they moved in September 1967 from South Dakota to Grand Rapids in Kent County in Michigan. Since many years Ilene and Everett live at Ada, which also lies in Kent County, approximately five miles east of Grand Rapids. It had in 2000 9.982 inhabitants and 21 % of its population has German, 17 % Dutch, 13 % English and 12 % Irish ancestry. Everett is Executive Vice-President of Dan Vos Construction Co., Inc. of Ada, Michigan. It designs and constructs industrial and institutional type facili- ties, mainly churches and schools. It also has a niche market of food proces- sing and drug manufacturing. Since a lot of work has been imported to China, Mexico, etc. those two markets seem to be quite strong. The business is going quite well compared to the US economy in general in 2008, which is the abso- lute pits.
